HOLDERNESS, N.H.—Women interested in becoming hunters are getting a chance to learn about New Hampshire's hunting laws and regulations, firearms handling, how to use a map and hunting safety.
A women-only hunter education class is being held Sunday at the Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness.
Participants had to complete an online study portion of the program and pass an exam. Those who passed the exam qualified for Sunday's women-only field day. The field day includes both written and field exams. Students participate in a firearms-handling session, a map-and-compass lesson and a live-fire course. Those who successfully complete the exams will be certified as a hunter and ready to buy a license.
The Department of Fish and Game has offered the women-only courses annually for eight years.![]()
