PORTLAND, Maine—Maine State Police are looking to hear from people who lived in the same apartment complex as a woman who went missing 28 years ago and whose remains are thought to have been found in a Lewiston storage unit.

Spokesman Steve McCausland said Kitty Wardwell lived at Greenwood Gardens Apartments in Holden when she disappeared in 1983. Police are awaiting positive identification on remains found last Friday in an unplugged freezer in a unit rented by Frank Julian, who died Oct. 1 at the age of 80.

Police say Julian told investigators back then he last saw the 29-year-old Wardwell following an argument in June 1983, when he dropped her off at a motel in Salem, N.H. McCausland said Julian also rented an apartment in the same complex.
