The city is considering taxing utility companies for the use of municipal rights-of-way. Under the plan, the city would tax utility wires running through air space above city property, and gas pipelines buried on municipal land. City officials estimate that the plan could raise an additional $600,000 annually. A public hearing on the plan will be held Nov. 21. - - Tom Long
