NH bus driver charged over brake-slamming incident
DERRY, N.H.—A New Hampshire school bus driver is facing charges for allegedly purposely slamming on the brakes, sending children lurching forward and injuring two of them.
Thirty-five-year-old Amy Weeden, of Derry, was charged this week with 24 counts of disorderly conduct -- one count for each child on the bus -- and two counts of simple assault. The charges stem from a brake-slamming incident Sept. 19 while she was taking students home East Derry Elementary School.
Capt. Vernon Thomas told the Eagle-Tribune ( http://bit.ly/vQ6xMF) the children said Weeden told them she hit her brakes on purpose so they would do as they were told
Weeden drove for First Student transportation company, which has suspended her.
