NH hearing set on fishing rules for Lamprey River

DURHAM, N.H.—The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is holding a hearing on proposed rule changes to fishing in the Lamprey River and taking ground fish in the Gulf of Maine.

The department proposes closing the freshwater area in the river 50 feet above Wiswall Dam year-round and 200 feet below the dam April 1 through July 31. The agency also proposes closing a part of the Gulf of Maine Cod Spawning Protection Area to taking and possessing ground fish.

The hearing is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth.
