ROCHESTER, N.H.—A stolen urn containing the ashes of her mother has been returned to a New Hampshire woman, who had been taking the container to bingo games for good luck.

Diane Bozzi said the urn was stolen from her vehicle on Dec. 5.

She says she decided to go to the media with the story because she thought the thief maybe didn't know what had been stolen.

Bozzi's strategy worked. The urn turned up on her doorstep a few days later.

She told WMUR-TV that her mother liked to play bingo so she takes the urn with her to games.

Bozzi thanks whoever returned the urn but also has a message for them to stop stealing.

Police say Bozzi's vehicle was one of several broken into in her neighborhood last week.
