PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—A group of community leaders in the New Hampshire city of Portsmouth wants to find a way to continue providing services and social opportunities to the city's seniors after the closure of the Senior Citizens Center on Parrott Avenue.

The Senior Center Planning Group is composed of representatives of nonprofits and health care advocates from throughout the region.

Member William Henson says the group's objective is to design a more effective Senior Center for the city and surrounding communities

He says the location of the new center has yet to be determined.

Henson tells the Portsmouth Herald (http://bit.ly/s5zDMr) he current senior center will be put on the market in early January.

He says activities at the Parrott Avenue location will be relocated throughout the city.
