Police: Man had pellet gun near Obama event
ROCHESTER, N.H.—Police say a man openly carrying a pellet gun on his hip was escorted away before President Barack Obama's campaign event in Rochester, N.H.
Deputy Chief Scott Dumas says Rochester police received a call about someone having a gun 10 minutes before the president's arrival on Saturday.
He tells the Foster's Daily Democrat ( http://bit.ly/NcYzFn) that the man was located less than a half-mile from Rochester Common, where Obama appeared. He says the man had a pellet gun.
Dumas says no laws were violated and that he believes the man had no "ill intentions." But he says the man used bad judgment and that officers escorted him away and drove him home.
The man's identity was not disclosed.
