Most signs were for: Deval Patrick
How crowded? It was almost completely empty at Boston Public Library about 8:45 this morning. According to the machine that scans your ballot I was the 63rd voter at that point.
Baked goods? Apparently they don't like food in the Boston Public Library because I didn't see any brownies!
Other comments: The campaign volunteers were so ravenous for my vote that they practically knocked me over trying to hand me their propaganda as I walked into my polling place. For about 3 seconds I felt like a celebrity. I guess it was fleeting though -- They didn't even look at me as I left. What does that say about my vote today?

How crowded? It was slow at 10:30am, more poll workers than voters, but this may have just been the mid-day lull.
Baked goods? Dear Boston Globe, I don't get this question, is it a joke? If there were supposed to be brownies and I didn't know about them, then I'd be upset. I mean I've only voted three times in my life of 20 years, but alas I've never been treated to a brownie. Just those "I voted" stickers, which do not taste very good. Sincerely, Matt.
Other comments: I was going to take photos, but there wasn't much to take pictures of, only unmanned signs outside.

Baked goods? Maura Hennigan's people came by as I was holding a sign for Andrea Silbert and passed out coffee and donuts.
Other comments: Interesting that there was no one from the Mayor's office out there working voters for Thomas F. Reilly.

Baked goods? Wait... there were supposed to be baked goods?? I feel cheated!
Other comments: The polling place was extremely unorganized and the people there, minus one or two, were rude and grumpy and not at all helpful. I must say, I understand why some people don't vote, it can be quite frustrating.

Baked goods? There weren't any!!!
Other comments: There were only 2 signs out front, both for Deval Patrick. I was surprised there weren't more signs out front. I recently moved to Canton from a much bigger city and I guess I am just used to more people voting and more people holding signs at voting locations.

Name: Sue Montgomery
Voted at: Harvard-Kent School
Voted for: Thomas F. Reilly
Most signs were for: Deval Patrick
How crowded? Not very - it was early this morning
Baked goods? n/a
Other comments: It used to be a lot easier to vote at the Harvard-Kent school. Previously, you would go to one table, give your name, and go into a curtain-drawn machine to vote. Now, you first go to a sign-in table, then you go to a small triangular space to fill out the form by hand, then go feed the paper into a machine and go to another table to give your name and address. It is much more complicated and inconvenient. Bring back the machines.

Other comments: At each polling place, all of which I've visited a few times already -- there are several Deval Patrick supporters holding signs outside and literally no supporters holding signs for either of the other two candidates.

Other comments: At 12:45 pm, 333 had voted at this precinct. Typically, about 400-500 Dems vote here in a guberntatorial primary. In looking at 4 different polling places in Falmouth today, only people holding signs are Deval Patrick supporters. No Gabrielli or Thomas F. Reilly supporters in sight!

How crowded? Not crowded at all. I was there around 11:45 a.m. and there were maybe 10 others voting there (and this is the only voting location in my town). Most of the people working the polls were sitting around waiting for something to do. Maybe everyone was at lunch?
Baked goods? None!
Other comments: It was interesting to me that the only signage outside with representation was Kerry Healey. There were several signs for Christopher Gabrieli sitting on the ground, so again, maybe everyone was just taking an early lunch?

Baked goods? No baked goods at 7:30am, unfortunately.
Other comments: Christopher Gabrieli had no supporters outside the polling place, but someone had stapled his signs into multiple telephone polls leading up to the site, which I believe is illegal. Also he had a giant sign tied to a car. Which is not illegal, but tacky.

Baked goods? No baked goods, just a lot of cops standing around looking bored.
Other comments: The scanning machine for my precint kept rejecting everyone's ballots until you pushed them through a third or fourth time. If my candidate loses by a single vote, I'm claiming vote irregularities!

How crowded? At 7:15 am, it was not crowded at all. Just a handful of people
Baked goods? There were no baked goods, or I'm sure I would have had something bad for me.
Other comments: There were probably more people outside holding campaign signs than were inside voting. The apathy is disturbing - I wish more people would vote, and pay attention to the issues, and what's happening. Maybe it will pick up as the day goes on.

Other comments: I voted around 9 in the morning, so I can imagine that would be a fairly quiet part of the voting day.

How crowded? Extremely crowded -- with the press -- largely because Deval Deval Patrick was voting the places ahead of me in line.
Baked goods? Sadly, there were none.
Other comments: Mr. Deval Patrick was exceptionally polite, to everyone, even apologizing to the registrar after he checked in about bringing all the media attention. She was completely happy about the whole affair, suffice it to say. He engaged in the usual small talk and received many good lucks and well wishes. An exceptionally positive outing.Brian Joyce and other local notable politicains were all in attendance.

Baked goods?
Other comments: By the way, I just read your "field report" from Natick, where you actually made a story out of someone doing an exit poll of about 10 out of 120 people leaving from one polling place. It's not a solid statistical sample.

Baked goods? Always excellent hand-made baked good for sale at the Senior Center!
Other comments: Drove around to three different precincts at 8:30. There were about 5 sign holders at each. At Hillside Elementary, there was one each for Thomas F. Reilly, Gabreili, Deval Patrick, and for congressional candidates Dunklebarger and Lynch. Surprised that there was a Dunklebarger supporter at each polling location I checked -- I hadn't seen much from the campaign before.

How crowded? I arrived at about 1:00 to find hundreds of middle-schoolers crowding the recess area that serves as the entrance to the polling place. Kids were running, balls were flying (fast and hard), kids were screaming everywhere. I mentioned my concern to a couple teachers and the school principal, who were pretty dismissive. I know that other communities actually give kids the day off on election day. Maybe Needham should, too.

How crowded? Very sparse. Voted at 9am and 82 votes had been cast to that point - on a heavy day, twice that many would have been cast.
Baked goods? dieting - had none
Other comments: Interested to see if Brian Lees gets his 1,000 write-in votes to run for Hampden County Clerk of Courts: people will vote for him, but will there even be a 1,000 Republicans voting in the primary???

How crowded? No line. At 10:00 a.m., I was Precinct #2 voter number 151.
Baked goods? The only people with baked goods were the humorless old name checkers. When I saw a massive tray of breakfast pastries and cookies hidden behind the checkers, I asked if the voters had subsidized the snacks. "Take it up at Town Meeting," barked the granny on duty.

How crowded? Decent turnout for a low turnout precinct. A lot of Worcester folks coming out to support Murray for LG.
