Biden says he meant no disrespect to Obama
Delaware Senator Joe Biden, who today filed papers seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, said he meant no disrespect when he described Senator Barack Obama as the first African-American who was “articulate and bright and clean”
In a national conference call with reporters Wednesday afternoon, Biden rejected the notion that his comment was racist.
“No one is going to misunderstand,'' Biden said. He went on to describe Obama as a “special guy” who has “come a long way.”
In the New York Observer Wednesday, Biden criticized Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards.
He said none of them talked about Iraq or offered an exit plan until they entered the presidential race. All three are polling better than Biden.
