Phyllis Woods wins vote to become RNC Committeewoman
Strafford County Republican Chair Phyllis Woods beat out three others today for a position representing New Hampshire on the Republican National Committee
Woods, a former state representative, beat out Stella Scamman on a run-off vote 190-116. Scamman, of Stratham, is a former state representative and the wife of a former house speaker.
The position became vacant earlier this year when Nancy Merrill resigned from the job for a position with the John McCain campaign.
Amherst activist Carol Holden and Durham activist Wendy Stanley Jones also ran, but did not get enough votes to qualify for the run-off second ballot.
The Woods victory will be celebrated by the social conservative wing of the party, which has recently lost a few attempts to their candidate be the state party chair.
