PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Thousands of jack-o-lanterns will soon light up Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence as the annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular returns.
The event features 5,000 illuminated jack-o-lanterns along the zoo’s ¼-mile wetlands trail.
It opens Thursday night and runs through Nov. 3.
The spectacular features pumpkins carved with spooky and funny faces, as well as some carved with more artistic scenes. This year’s theme is ‘‘All the World’s a Stage’’ and features pumpkins carved with scenes from movies, Broadway and TV.
The event is scheduled to run most nights from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturdays, it runs until midnight.
Last year, more than 100,000 people visited the event.
