A woman from Cranston has claimed a winning Powerball prize worth $1 million. Rhode Island Lottery officials said Karen Palumbo and her family presented the winning ticket at lottery headquarters in Cranston Tuesday morning. Palumbo told lottery officials she normally picks her own numbers but got an extra Quick Pick for Saturday night’s drawing that ended up matching five numbers, but not the Powerball. The jackpot was $40 million. Palumbo told lottery officials she plans to pay bills, go on a cruise, and ‘‘live a simpler life.’’ Earlier this year, two Rhode Islanders hit separate Powerball jackpots worth $336.4 million and $60 million.
