PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a Providence armed drug dealer to nearly six years in prison.
Federal prosecutors announced Friday that Juan Addison was sentenced for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The 27-year-old Addison was also ordered to serve three years of supervised released once he comes out of prison.
Addison pleaded guilty in August. He was arrested after arriving home in February as Providence police detectives were preparing to search the place. He was found to be carrying nearly 3.5 grams of cocaine and more than 1,800 in cash. Investigators found a semi-automatic handgun and ammunition in the home, together with material used in the preparation and trafficking of cocaine.
Addison was previously convicted in Virginia of use of a firearm in a robbery.
