PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State and city offices in Rhode Island will be closed for the observance of Veterans Day.
The state is observing Veterans Day on Monday, though the holiday falls on a Sunday this year. All state agencies and municipal offices will be closed on Monday.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority says it will operate all regular fixed-route services as usual on Sunday. Public buses and trolleys will run on their regular schedule on Monday as well.
Several cities and towns are holding Veterans Day parades and other events. U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, a graduate of West Point, is marching in the North Kingstown parade along with Gov. Lincoln Chafee (CHAY'-fee) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse. Reed will also speak at a wreath-laying at Brown University.
