WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — The family of a Rhode Island man killed in action during World War II is set to receive six medals honoring his service to the country.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin plans to present Frank Aldrich with six medals earned by his father, Cpl. Frank Aldrich of Central Falls. The elder Aldrich was killed during the Battle of the Bulge and is buried in Westerly.

Langevin’s office says the long overdue medals include the Purple Heart and the Victory Medal along with campaign medals.

The medal presentation is set to take place Monday at Langevin’s office in Warwick.end of story marker
