WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Hundreds in Woonsocket briefly lost power after a private person cut down a tree and it fell on power lines.
National Grid spokeswoman Jackie Barry said about 2,900 people initially lost electricity after the accident at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
But she said workers were able to quickly reduce the outages to just a few dozen people, with full power expected restored by late afternoon.
She said the tree didn’t appear to damage any infrastructure, which was why the power could be quickly restored.![]()
