PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say they have charged a 49-year-old man with driving under the influence and reckless driving after his vehicle was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 95.
Police said they started getting 911 calls just before 4 a.m. on Friday for a vehicle traveling south on the northbound side of I-95 near the Thurbers Avenue exit in Providence. Troopers and Cranston police officers responding to the reports found a gold Toyota stopped in the northbound high-speed lane around Jefferson Boulevard in Cranston.
Authorities say the driver, Danubio Suchite, of Providence was suspected of being intoxicated and was arrested. They say his blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.
A telephone listing could not be found for Suchite.
