PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The head of the Providence Preservation Society is stepping down for a job in Florida.

The president of the board of trustees says James Brayton Hall will be stepping down in March for a job as deputy director of the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach. He has led the society since 2010.

The board plans to appoint an interim director in the coming weeks and launch a search for Hall’s permanent replacement.

Searle says Hall’s leadership has reenergized the preservation society and that the group is on ‘‘firm footing’’ heading into its next chapter.end of story marker
