PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man who served 18 years in prison for killing his girlfriend is facing another murder charge in connection with the beating death of a woman in East Providence last year.
The state Attorney General’s Office says Andrew Jett will be arraigned Wednesday morning in Providence County District Court.
East Providence police say they obtained an arrest warrant for Jett in the killing of his girlfriend, Michelle Busby, in her apartment last August.
Authorities previously had named Jett a person of interest in Busby’s death. He has been detained on a parole violation since he was taken into custody in Baltimore last year.
Jett served 18 years of a 40-year prison sentence for killing girlfriend Stephanie Oxendine of North Kingstown in 1992. He was paroled in 2010.
