N. Providence official's daughter charged in crash
NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police in North Providence say they arrested the daughter of the Town Council president after she lied to officers about her role in a car accident this week.
Authorities told WPRI-TV (http://bit.ly/10nYFpv ) that 19-year-old Madison Catanzaro was in a car accident on Mineral Spring Avenue Monday and told police that she was driving. But officials say she admitted the next day that her friend was actually behind the wheel.
Catanzaro and her friend, 18-year-old Deniz Lobo, were charged with misdemeanor obstruction and conspiracy. Lobo was also charged with driving without a valid license.
Catanzaro’s mother is North Providence Town Council President Kristin Catanzaro. She says her daughter panicked and lied because she knew how upset her parents would be about someone else driving her car.
