PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A body found stuffed inside a 55-gallon drum in a New York apartment belonged to a young woman who had recently moved there from Providence.

WJAR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/XYYexI ) Friday that the body of 19-year-old Francis Alfonso Pellerano was found last weekend.

Pellerano had studied at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf before moving to New York last fall to be closer to a boyfriend.

Police arrived at the Harlem apartment last Saturday to investigate a report of a foul odor. The Medical Examiner reports that Pellerano sustained multiple stab wounds.

There have been no arrests, but police say a person of interest was undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
