TIVERTON, R.I. (AP) — Tiverton officials say a local firefighter injured his knee battling a house blaze.
Firefighters were called to the home on Main Road at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday and arrived to find flames shooting out of the basement windows. Officials say everyone in the home was able to get out safely.
Authorities say a firefighter was brought to a hospital after injuring his knee while walking up some stairs that had iced over.
Firefighters quickly got the blaze under control, but there was major smoke damage to the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
