State health department holding thermometer exchange
PROVIDENCE, R.I. --Time to get rid of those old mercury thermometers.
The state health department is holding a thermometer exchange in Cranston on Saturday.
People can get free digital thermometers by trading in ones containing mercury.
The department warns that devices containing mercury present a health risk and can cause pollution.
The thermometer exchange is being held from nine a.m. to one p.m. at the Cranston Fire Department.
