CRANSTON, R.I.—U.S. Representatives Jim Langevin and Christopher Shays are planning to announce a new health care bill at separate events in Rhode Island and Connecticut on Monday.
Langevin, a Rhode Island Democrat, and Shays, a Connecticut Republican, say the bill is the first bipartisan universal health care bill to originate in the U.S. House.
They say the bill, called the American Health Benefits Programs, is modeled after the federal employees health benefits program.
The two will announce the bill at 10 a.m. at the Comprehensive Community Action Program Family Health Services in Cranston, followed by a second announcement at 3:30 p.m. at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut.![]()
