PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Board games like Monopoly and Battleship could be coming to the big screen.

Universal Pictures said Wednesday it will make at least four movies based on Hasbro Inc. games and toys.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Hasbro said it will partner exclusively with Universal for the feature films, which could also be based on toys and games including Candy Land, Clue or Stretch Armstrong.

The first movie is expected to be released in 2010 or 2011.

Hasbro's Transformers toys made a splash with a blockbuster film last year. A sequel is now in production. There's also a movie being made based on Hasbro's G.I. Joe toys. Neither of those toys is covered by the new partnership.

Hasbro's next CEO, Brian Goldner, who takes over in May, has been a driving force behind the company's push into Hollywood.
