PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A 22-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and other charges in connection with an October 2006 crash in Woonsocket that killed three passengers in his car.

Prosecutors said Patrick Coyle had been drinking before his car swerved off a road, went through a fence and crashed into a tree.

Killed were brothers Victor and Steven Vasquez, and Travis Thifault.

Coyle -- the only survivor of the accident -- was ordered to prison shortly after the crash to serve the remainder of an eight-year suspended sentence for a 2005 drug conviction.

He was ordered held without bail following Wednesday's arraignment in Superior Court.
