PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Attorneys general from across the country are converging on Rhode Island this week for their annual summer meeting -- and Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch will assume the presidency of the group.

It's the first time an attorney general from Rhode Island will serve as head of the National Association of Attorneys General.

Lynch says he's honored to work with fellow law enforcement officials.

Among those scheduled to speak at the conference is Hall of Fame baseball player Cal Ripken Jr.

Ripken will make an appearance on behalf of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation's Badges for Baseballs Program, a year-long program that pairs law enforcement professionals as mentors and coaches with youth from community based groups.
