EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Police and state environmental officials say the person responsible for drowning three baby raccoons in East Providence could face charges.
The raccoons were found Saturday night in a trash barrel on Second Street.
Police were called to the area by the landlord of a building, who does not live at the location. He had previously reported problems with the animals.
Lt. Stephen Enos says whoever drowned the raccoons could face a felony charge of malicious injury or killing of an animal.
Enos says there are suspects but no arrests have been made.
