NEW LONDON, Conn.—A Rhode Island woman has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident in New London.

Twenty-seven-year-old Beatrice Price of Westerly, R.I., apologized Thursday as she was sentenced for killing a 33-year-old man in the November 2007 accident.

The prosecutor says Luis Chacha was in the crosswalk at Eugene O'Neill Drive and Green Street downtown when Price struck him with her car and fled the scene. He died of multiple blunt traumatic injuries

Price has pleaded guilty to evading responsibility resulting in a death.

The prosecutor says the victim's family was extremely gracious while the case was pending and told court officials they were leaving Price's fate "up to the courts and God."
