BOSTON
A fire damaged an administration building at Emmanuel College yesterday. Boston firefighters responded just before 2 p.m., the department reported on its Twitter feed. Contractors working in the basement cut old piping and heat traveled up to the fifth floor, where the wooden flooring caught fire, the department said. No injuries were reported, and damages were estimated at $50,000.

Two children seriously injured in crash
Two children were seriously injured in a two-car accident yesterday morning on Route 25. A GMC Suburban driven by Daylene Tropeano, 41, was struck from behind by a Toyota Avalon driven by Louise Houle, 61, a police report said. The Suburban slid toward the median on its driver’s side and the Avalon landed on its roof in the breakdown lane. Both drivers, along with the five children who were in the Suburban, were taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham. An 11-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl from Tropeano’s vehicle with the most serious injuries were transferred to Children’s Hospital in Boston.

The turnout of 2,467 voters represented 34 percent of registered voters, said Town Clerk Patricia Anderson.
