PROVIDENCE, R.I.—There's a new judge on Rhode Island's highest court.
The state Senate on Thursday confirmed Superior Court Judge Gilbert Indeglia for a seat on the Supreme Court. He'd already been confirmed by the House following his nomination to the post by Gov. Don Carcieri (kuh-CHEHR'ee).
Indeglia has served on the Superior Court since 2000 and was a District Court judge before that. He was also a Republican state lawmaker in the 1980s.
Indeglia will join the court after he gets sworn in by the governor.
Indeglia was appointed to the court after Paul Suttell was elevated to the position of chief justice, creating a vacancy.![]()
