A new Navy facility for developing unmanned vehicles that can attack submarines is being built in Newport. A World War II-era building on Narragansett Bay will be converted into the Unmanned Anti-Submarine Warfare Support Facility as part of a $6 million project. Groundbreaking was Thursday, and Navy officials expect the building to be finished by February 2012.
