Former lawmaker to be freed from prison

A former Rhode Island lawmaker convicted of corruption in 2007 is to be released from custody. The website of the US Bureau of Prisons says Gerard Martineau is scheduled to be freed Thursday from a community corrections program in Philadelphia. Martineau admitted using his political influence to defeat legislation opposed by major customers, CVS and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
