RI courts to stay open, but calendars canceled

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Rhode Island's courts are remaining open for business despite the snow, though all scheduled proceedings have been canceled.

Craig Berke, a spokesman for the state judiciary, says lawyers can come in Thursday to file paperwork and do other business. But all criminal and civil calendars have been canceled for the day as snow is expected to continue falling.

The sentencing of Joseph Colanduono, a Providence narcotics detective caught in a cocaine bust, had been scheduled for Thursday in Providence Superior Court but will now be postponed.
