City begins search for police, fire chiefs

Providence plans to begin advertising for open police and fire chief positions at the end of the week. Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare says he will also form advisory committees made up of representatives from the community and police and fire unions to help him select new leaders for the departments. He hopes to fill the positions in time for the start of 2012. (AP)
