WESTERLY, R.I.
A black swan from Connecticut is back on Block Island after being blown out to sea during Tropical Storm Irene. Debbie-Jo Horton, whose partner owns Abrams Animal Farm, said someone must have let the 4-year-old male swan loose from a corral between Aug. 25 and 26. The Block Island Times reported last week that the swan, first acquired by the farm on Aug. 24, was rescued Aug. 28 by firefighters 14 miles away, off the coast of Westerly. Horton said the swan recuperated briefly at an animal shelter in Tiverton. She said the bird has now been named Stormy.![]()
