PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The first lady of Rhode Island is planning to get a flu shot at the Statehouse in an effort to urge all residents to do the same.
Stephanie Chafee (CHAY'-fee), the wife of Gov. Lincoln Chafee, is scheduled to get a flu shot Tuesday morning along with state Department of Health Director Michael Fine.
They will get their shots during a flu clinic being held outside the State Room starting at 9 a.m.
Health officials say a flu shot is the best way to protect against influenza. Influenza and its related complications kill an estimated 36,000 people in the United States each year.![]()
