PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Occupy Providence activists are preparing to participate in a national action against the largest U.S. banks and urging residents to close their Bank of America accounts as an act of protest.

A rally against so-called "greedy banks" is scheduled for Saturday morning at Burnside Park. It is part of "National Bank Transfer Day" and will include a march to Bank of America headquarters across from the park.

Critics of big banks say they contributed to the economic crisis and profit off economic injustice.

Occupy Providence has been camped out for three weeks in Burnside Park as part of a national movement bemoaning economic inequality and the influence of banks and corporations.

The group Direct Action for Rights and Equality is co-organizing the rally.
