CRANSTON, R.I.—The Rhode Island officials have announced the return of 127 Air National Guard airmen who have been deployed to Afghanistan since August.
The National Guard says members of the 143rd Airlift Wing will begin returning home in groups of 20 to 30 airmen at a time over a period of eight days beginning on Sunday.
The airmen will return to Quonset Air National Guard Base in North Kingstown. They are returning with six transport aircraft that deployed with them.
The unit was based at Bagram Air Base for 90 days. Officials say the unit was responsible for airlifting international security forces in Afghanistan.![]()
