PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Protesters participating in Occupy Providence and city officials plan to hammer out their differences with a mediator.

Mike McCarthy, an activist with the protest, said Tuesday a state judge has agreed to act as a mediator.

Protesters have been camping out in Burnside Park since Oct. 15 without a permit. The city has said they cannot stay indefinitely.

Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare (PAH're) says he will ask the mediator to address two new domes that have been set up in the park.

Pare says he informed the protesters on Monday that the structures are not permitted.

McCarthy says the domes will be used for a library and meeting area. He says they will provide protection from the weather during the winter.
