PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A new government commission in Rhode Island is examining the ways climate change may impact life in the Ocean State.
The state's General Assembly voted to create the Climate Change Commission in 2010 and tasked it with studying the effects of climate change and the state's response to it. But delays in appointing commission members kept it from beginning its work.
The commission is now scheduled to meet for the first time Tuesday at the Rhode Island Foundation offices in Providence.
The agenda for the meeting includes the election of commission co-chair people and an overview on climate change and efforts already under way to address it.![]()
