PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A Cranston man has been indicted on charges he killed his girlfriend, whose body was found in her burning apartment in June.

State prosecutors said Friday that a grand jury indicted 35-year-old Matthew Komrowski on murder and other charges. Investigators say Komrowski killed his girlfriend Shirley Donnelly on June 9. Firefighters found her remains inside a bedroom at her burning Cranston apartment. Police have not said how Donnelly was killed.

Prosecutors also say Komrowski also stole Donnelly's cell phone and her 1997 Nissan Maxima. He has been held without bail since his arrest.

An arraignment has been scheduled for Dec. 14 in Providence County Superior Court. Komrowski's public defender did not return a message Friday afternoon seeking comment.
