Providence moves up kindergarten registration

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Providence school officials are starting kindergarten registration early to give schools more time to prepare.
Registration for incoming kindergarteners is set to begin Tuesday, several weeks earlier than in past years.
The move is intended to give school officials more time to plan for the school year.
A child must have been born by Sept. 1, 2007 to be eligible for kindergarten in the 2012 school year.
Registration ends Feb. 10.
