PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Rhode Island's new Music Hall of Fame has announced its first class of inductees.

The newly formed Hall of Fame will induct John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Roomful of Blues, Dave McKenna, Eileen Farrell and four others at a ceremony in February.

The Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the legacy of musicians who have contributed significantly to the music scene in Rhode Island and nationally. It was formed as a nonprofit last spring and builds on the work of the Rhode Island Popular Music Hall of Fame.

The Music Hall of Fame hopes to create a museum and music archive featuring audio and video recordings.

The induction ceremony and concert will be held Feb. 26 at The Met in Pawtucket.
