COVENTRY, R.I.—Rhode Island and federal workplace safety officials are reviewing an incident in which six workers at a Coventry company had to be checked at a hospital when a vacuum malfunctioned.

No serious injuries were reported in the incident Saturday at Clariant Corp. The state Department of Environmental Management says the six people had adverse reactions to dust produced by the malfunctioning vacuum.

WPRI reports ( http://bit.ly/wdA38c) they are subcontractors at Clariant, which makes chemicals for printing ink.

No chemicals were involved in Saturday's incident, and the workers were checked at Kent Hospital and released.

The state DEM and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are reviewing the circumstances.
