PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A Rhode Island State Trooper who was hospitalized this week after his cruiser rolled over on Interstate 95 has been upgraded to good condition.

A Rhode Island Hospital official says Trooper Jonathan Elliott's condition improved to good on Friday.

State police superintendent Col. Steven O'Donnell says Elliott's vehicle overturned while he was responding to another officer who was chasing a drug trafficking suspect on foot. Police said Elliott was initially in serious condition.

The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. Thursday in West Greenwich.

After the foot chase, police arrested a 42-year-old Boston man on charges including possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and resisting arrest. Authorities say they seized 50 pounds of marijuana from the suspect.
