Historical society developing Newport mobile app

NEWPORT, R.I.—The Newport Historical Society is preparing to launch a free web-based mobile app featuring information about the city's historic locations.
The society partnered on the project with Lila Delman Real Estate which has multiple offices in Rhode Island. It is also launching a fundraising campaign to raise $10,000 in 45 days to pay for the app's development costs.
The app is being called "Explore Historic Newport." It's scheduled to launch late next month or in early July.
The app will initially cover multiple locations including the waterfront, Washington Square and Bellevue Avenue, where many of the city's historic mansions are located.
The society says the app will eventually encompass the entire city.
