US Rep. Jim Langevin kicks off re-election bid
PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Rhode Island Congressman Jim Langevin (LAN'-jih-vin) is kicking off his campaign for another term.
Langevin announced the launch of his re-election bid Tuesday in a letter emailed to voters.
The Democrat cites in the letter his efforts to increase submarine production at Electric Boat in Quonset and improve workforce training. He vowed to work to strengthen the middle class and improve the state's roads and bridges if given another two years in Washington.
Langevin has represented the state's 2nd District since 2001. It includes the southern and western bulk of the state.
Langevin faces a primary challenge from John Matson.
Independent Abel Collins and Republicans Michael Riley, Kara Russo, Donald Robbio and Michael Gardiner are also running for the seat.
