1 killed, firefighter injured in RI motel fire

NEWPORT, R.I.—A fire at a Newport motel has left one person dead and a firefighter injured.
Newport police say the fire happened at Pineapple Inn at about 12 a.m. Sunday. They have not yet identified the person who died.
The American Red Cross is helping eight adults and a child who were displaced by the fire.
Police and fire officials are investigating.
